Zombies on the Green
The Hobart Zombie March is an annual event organized and promoted by participants via social media, predominately a facebook group. It attracts people of all ages and from all backgrounds who "zombie up" to march through Hobart's largest tourist attraction, the Salamanca Markets then on through the city, ending at a live music venue. The social media group exists only for this event. This work is street photography of the zombies gathering at a park prior to the march, undertaken to contribute to the documentation of the event. Photos and video of the event are shared publically via Facebook, Flickr and youtube.
Artist's biography
Michelle Powell (born 1972, Western Australia) is a full-time photographic artist currently based in Hobart, Tasmania.
After completing a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and working for 15 years within the public welfare sector, she is currently completing a Diploma of Photo-Imaging at Tasmanian Polytechnic.
Michelle is the 2012 Australian Institute of Professional Photography Tasmanian Student of the Year.
